MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE DAY'S
Hope your Christmas will be happy!!!

Our favorite Christmas memory from last year.....Little Avery 2 days old had just come from the hospital! He arrived at our annual Nativity play just in time to be little Jesus! As you can see, he did a great job! May you enjoy this season that we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Christmas Concert at the Mesa Temple

For the past 8 years, our stake, the Gilbert Arizona Stake and the St. Annes Catholic Church here in Gilbert had our annual combined choir at the Mesa Temple. This was my 4th year and Dennis' first year. It is alot of fun and we always meet new friends and see friends from other years. It is a wonderful experience! You can see Dennis there on the first row on the right. I'm on the right side and up and to the left of the flute player. My head is turned. Yes.........I'm talking to my friend. (shocker) The performance hadn't started yet, okay? haha
Didn't Jamee take a great picture of the Temple? Mesa Temple grounds and Visitor Center has one of the largest Christmas Light displays. It's very beautiful!!

Toree's excitement cannot be contained!

randy's school of rock

Some of my friends ask me what we do during the day for homeschool.

On this day, Randy called for us to come down to his room. We each got our assignment.
He taught us our part and soon we were playing the theme song from the office! We were actually good! We're goners once the real band comes.

I was told not to smile. They say it's the band look.

great pose Jamee!

Two cute cousins

Cooper wants to play with Avery soooo bad. He would bring cars over to him, but Avery would just lay there. So, Cooper decided he might as well join Avery on the floor. It might be a while yet.
Things are looking up!

how I spent my summer vacation

Growing up in my family meant we bought a house, my dad would totally remodel it then sell it. My dad was a professional painter, wallpaper hanger and a school teacher. It must be in my blood because I love painting, doing mouldings, wood trims, decorating and etc. My sister, JaNae, has the same interests. We dream about flipping houses! Being busy moms and now grandmas we're not sure this will ever happen. So, we decided to remodel our parents home in Orem, Utah. We did the master bedroom last year. Then we went up for the whole month of July this year and did the rest of the upstairs. My parents home was very cute in the 80's. But it was time for a new updated look. My parents are now 86 years old. My sister and I had a blast! Check out the slideshow of the before and after pictures. There are a few things that weren't finished when the pic were taken, but I think you'll get the idea.

sign us up for parents of the year

Toree has been begging like a dog.....I mean... she has been begging for a dog since she could speak. I mean talk !! She would crawl around the house with a leash hooked to a collar. Her brothers and sisters would humor her and take her for walks. She would say: I'm a dog. My name is Purdy and I'm a Dalmatian dog! This went on for months and months. She even licked my ankle once when I was working in the kitchen. That's when I drew the line! We always thought that this dog phase would fade away.............but it actually got worse Dennis was raised on a dairy farm and he always told the kids that we would only get a dog if we moved to a farm. We have said- no to a dog all these years. So this is quite a shock for all the older brothers and sisters. Our family and friends cannot believe we are really doing this. I think I'm still in shock! Are we crazy????
It's amazing how sometimes things are just meant to be. We were introduced to a new friend that needed a home for her dog. It happen to be the only breed of dog I would ever consider owning. We had a chance to adopt her so......for about a week we had to keep the biggest secret of the century! Toree's birthday isn't until August 29th. While Toree and Jamee went to a stake fireside we went and picked up our new dog.
At first, Toree just looked at the dog. We kept saying Happy Birthday Toree. She kept saying-are you serious?
even if you're not a dog lover, admit she's darn cute!!!

While I was up in Utah, Jillyn and I drove to SLC Sunday morning to watch the live broadcast of the Spoken Word on Temple Square. It was so wonderful! The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and orchestra are amazing! The music was heavenly!!! It was especially exciting since my cousin, Laurie is a new member of the choir. I found her up on the 6th row. I felt so proud of her and her great accomplishment.

Then....I was very happy because I got to talk to my childhood friend, Lloyd Newell. I haven't seen him for a few years. Wish we would have had more time to visit but he is a busy man on Sunday morning! It was great to see him again. It was Lloyd's B-day so the choir sang to him after the broadcast. For anyone who doesn't know who Lloyd Newell is, he is the famous voice we hear while watching the Spoken Word on Sunday mornings. This is the longest running live broadcast in the world. People all over the world hear this each Sunday.
Here is an old picture of us. There's Lloyd in the middle with his sister, Debbie on the left and yours truly on the right holding my cat, Smokey. The 3 of us went to school together, Sharon Elementary, Orem Jr. and then Orem High. Aren't we cute?
Here I am with my cousin, Laurie. It was so great to talk with her. We haven't seen each other for many years. Hope she will sing in the Tabernacle Choir for years to come.
Last but not least, we were able to visit with Dennis' sister, Julie and her husband, Darrell. They are missionaries at the Family History Center in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. They really enjoy their calling.

Welcome Home Elder Day !!!

Arriving at the airport. We can't believe how quickly 2 years have gone by. We can't wait to see Elder Day. Will he be the same "Randy" we all know and love?! ha ha
We found out that Randy's plane has been delayed about 15 mins. But as you can see from the smiles, they don't seem to mind.
Chad was hungry so he decided that he might as well get a bit to eat while he's waiting!
Glad to be sitting here verses sitting in traffic
It shouldn't be much longer!
